MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS
- Phylogeny, systematics and biogeography of marine red algae (especially
the Delesseriaceae), algal culture, computer applications (map and
video, imagery, database), underwater still and video photography.
EDUCATION
- 2000. Ph.D. (January 1997 - May 2000), University of Louisiana at Lafayette,
Louisiana USA. Dissertation title: "Phylogeny of the marine
red algal family Delesseriaceae (Ceramiales, Rhodophyta)" (Supervisor:

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND FIELD EXPERIENCE
- Research Assistant on DOE-EETAP grant (Fall 1997 - 2000), UL Lafayette
- Research Assistant (May, 1996 - December, 1996): Institute of Marine
Biology, NTOU, Benthic Algal Laboratory. (Dr. J.E. Lewis, Laboratory Director).
Duties: Teaching students how to collect seaweeds and specimen photography
in lab, seaweed identification and description for the marine flora database,
publication of new algal records, collecting subtidal (SCUBA) and intertidal
seaweeds along N. and S. Taiwan coastline, organization of field trips,
and grant report processing.
- Research Assistant (March, 1992 - December, 1994): Institute of Marine
Biology, NTOU, Benthic Algal Laboratory. Duties: Collecting subtidal
(SCUBA) and intertidal seaweeds seasonally (e.g., Orchid Island, Green
Island, Hsiao-Liuchiu Island, Penghu Island, and Taiwan, especially south
Taiwan), photography, organization of fieldtrips and specimen processing,
field-data recording and analyses, and grant report processing.
- Gulf Coast of Florida and Louisiana: marine algal collecting (Fall
